In order to tackle the recent flood of attempted comment spam I’ve been suffering under (hundreds of spam per day), I upgraded Wordpress from 1.5 to 2.0.2 this morning.

Other changes include a new theme since the old one didn’t seem to work after the upgrade and I did a little php hacking to include the “Recent Comments” to the sidebar.

All seems to be well at this time, but please feel free to note any issues, bugs, thoughts, comments, etc. that anyone has as comments on this post.

I, for one, like this theme better than the last one.

Looks good on my PocketPC Opera. Better use of screen real estate, too.

Did you send a thank you note to spammers for making you jimprove your site yet? :-)

Glad to see people are generally liking the new theme. It’s definitely growing on me.

I’m not completely sold on the wysiwig post editor yet (it’s got some broken-ness which conflicts with my preferred formatting style), but I’m far from ready to write it off.

After 48 hours, Wordpress’ built-in anti-spam solution Akismet has blocked over 1,200 spam comments, so it’s definitely making a difference.

I’ve noticed that the blockquotes aren’t suitably block-y. I’ll have to fix that before I post my next article, which makes liberal use of them.

Oh, yeah…over 2,000 spam posts and counting
