This is cool. It’s Aon’s 2005 World Terrorism Risk Map. It’s also big. I’m trying to get a hardcopy (form here if you want to order your own). I hope they’ll still send me one when they realize I do Information Security.

Very cool. But why is the icon for Islamic Extremist some dude on a horse?

I don’t know, but I wondered about that myself. I couldn’t even decide for sure if that’s what it was supposed to be, though.

Their icons are weird in general. The “Other religious extremists” icon looks a lot like the Amnesty International logo.

I think my favorite is the “single interest” bunny, though. I guess you can never be too careful around Animal Rights activists and other bunny lovers.

The “Other Religious Extremists” logo sort of reminded me of the opening credits to “The Bishop”

That thing is like a Rohrschach test, not just for its viewers but also, in a way, for its designers.

“Single interest” symbol is a rabbit. Could this be at all related to “bunny-hugging” eco-terrorists (as noted above)? (Maybe a Monkey Wrench would’ve been too subtle).

Until I zoomed, the “Far right” icon looked like Kruschev (err…no), but then it looked like Eisenhower(!). Now, at third glance, it looks like James Carville.

Anyway, a fun graphic on many levels.
